HUMANS Pirates, lost children and redskins are all a part of the human race. Humans come in many different skins colors, sizes, and shapes. Some are very tall, some very short, some are stout, some are downright obese, and others are stick thin. They walk on two legs and (apart from most other primates) are the only creatures to have opposable thumbs. Neverland humans are really nothing special and don't have any special abilities, they cannot shape shift, cast spells, and do not have animal appendages or wings. Humans are not native to Neverland, in fact all humans who live in Neverland once started out in the real world and in one way or another managed to arrive on this dream-world island.
MERMAIDS A mermaid is an aquatic creature with the female head, torso, and arms of a human while also having the tail of a fish, dolphin, shark, or other sea creature for their legs. Neverland mermaids do not get along with anyone outside their race, some can be more curious about humans and fairies than others, but they are typically not friends. Mermaids enjoy basking on Marooner's rock in the sun and should there be a rainbow after rain fall the mermaids will play a game, batting bubbles back and forth with their tails through the rainbow until it bursts. During the full moon it is dangerous for mortals to be around mermaids, strange wailing cries can be heard on these nights as the mermaids go into a violent frenzy.
FAIRIES When a child laughs for the first time a fairy is born; there is one fairy per child born. Fairies have short lives (though to them a lifetime seems long); if at any point someone says that they do not believe in fairies, one will drop down dead. Fairies look like small humans with insect wings that glow; the color is determined by their genders: boys being mauve, girls white, and ones that don't know are blue. Because they are so small fairies only have enough room for one emotion at a time, they can change at will but it has to be a complete change. The fairy language sounds much akin to tinkling bells, most lost children (due to be allied with fairies) can understand it and so can the redskins - only pirates who were once lost children themselves know the fairy language.
