Marina was on a mission. She'd waded up the river as far as she could without beaching herself, but upon reaching the gully she was forced to transform into a more land-able body. The hem of her long, teal dress dragged through the shallow waters, but Marina had never been bothered by getting her human clothes or form wet, being a mermaid she felt more comfortable that way, obviously. She began to slowly toddled around the gully, staring at the ground as she did so. Sunset was fast approaching, and she needed to find her hair pin before dark. She'd been visiting the flower field the night before, and on her way back she had dropped the jeweled clip. Normally it wouldn't be such a big deal, but it was her favorite one of course, it was the first one she'd found amongst the treasures of Grief Reef.
In the dimming light she began to kick sand around in frustration, until she finally stilled and heaved a great sigh. As the water around her feet settled, it became very quiet, eerily quiet. Paranoid, Marina glanced over her shoulder but saw nothing. She chewed on her bottom lip gently, but went back to the task at hand--however unsuccessfully. She briefly wished she had tagged along Delta or Coral, but they had been busy with their own plans and she hadn't wanted to impose. Besides, she was nearly grown-up and she would have to learn to explore by herself. No matter how frightening it was or how vulnerable she felt. She felt confident for a moment, but the sound of a bush rustling was enough to deflate any sense of ego. Her whole body froze in place and at the sound of footsteps within the shallow pool of the gully, she twisted around to face whomever had come to kill her. Because obviously that was what they were here to do.
Being inherently clumsy on human feet, just like very mermaid in existence, her feet were easily tangled by the wet hem of her dress and she fell back into the pool--soaking her whole backside. She tried in vain to appear tough to the stranger, but the shaky tone of voice easily gave away her fright, "W-What do you want?"
