Eztli looked up at the sky through low eyelids, studying the swirls of blue, yellow and orange that lit up the sky as the sun rose behind the ocean, casting a soft shimmer over the water. He lazily lifted his index finger to his eyes, slowly turned his hand from left to right then lowered his finger to his lips, sucking at the blood from his recent cut into his mouth and left it there for a few short seconds before taking it out and placing his hand on his chest. Eztli was for once feeling relaxed. A light breeze blew past him but his cape kept him warm as he reclined next to a borrowed wooden boat on the middle of the marauders rock. His head was propped up by his other hand to keep his eyes locked on the ocean for anyone. it had been a long evening of hunting and he needed some time to relax. With his arm lifting to his mouth, Eztli let out a long yawn into the sleeve of his shirt, wiping at the tear that had collected in the corner of his eye before making another yawn and returning to his previous position, his eyes still locked on the rising sun. It wouldn’t be long before someone would come, probably a pirate or mermaid coming to dump a lost child or relax in the sun. All he wanted to do was relax, suck the blood from his finger, sleep and maybe hunt a mermaid. Until then, he'd be here by the boat, with a bloody finger and without worries.

She had heard it said that a mermaid's soul was much like the sea that they called home. Well, if that were the case then in that moment Delta's soul was a tempest. Vicious, destructive and without restraint.
With sharp turns of her silvery tail, the ducking and twisting of her spine and arms, the mermaid left the coral caves that nestled her and her fellow mermaids, swimming for the surface. Glacial eyes were even icier than what was usual, those coral lips thin with disdain. Her usually unfeeling heart beat madly with the anger that she felt towards the weakness of her sisters. Their stupidity. Their blissfulness.
It wasn't often that Delta lost all patience for her less adventurous brethren. Usually she was ... quite fond of them. But there was a limit to the amount of chatter about the antics of the Lost Boys and the frustratingly limited lagoon that they dwelt within that Delta could endure.
Breaking the calm surface of the lagoon, Delta could not keep still. Her luminescent fins of her tail churned the water around her, her fingers struck out at any nearby fish, chasing them away in bewilderment. With a snarl, Delta beat her fists down upon the water's surface like some child throwing a tantrum, splashing water all around her. With a final aggravated sigh, Delta curved her spine and simply floated, her pale hair spreading around her form in a damp tangle. Her gaze focused on the sky above, glowering as if choosing to pass the blame of her temper up upon the heavens.
This was pointless. Watching others pull their hair out, scream and lash out was what satisfied Delta. Not raging herself. What she needed was an outlet for her frustrations, so she may return to being her usual uncaring self. Like some witless human, daring to take a dip in the lagoon. Oh how Delta would enjoy leading them deeper, and deeper into her territory, pulling them gently beneath its pristine surface before wrapping her fingers around their throat. Watching them struggle, fear and despair. Finally realizing the way of things, that unlike she they were not made for the ocean, with only their weak ugly limbs to keep them afloat, and so they had no place there. Just the same as Delta did not belong on the land.
Twisting back around, the mermaid slowly moved her away around the twisting rocks and dips that made the lagoon's boarder, offering perfect hiding spots for games of Hide and Seek, and diving platforms. She was making her way towards Marooner's Rock, thinking that perhaps the warmth of the sun might appease her, when her gaze fell upon the small wooden boat that floated innocently there.
There was no warmth to the smile that Delta's lips suddenly formed. Only cruel malice. Without a sound, she disappeared beneath the water once more, her destination set upon the boat but with no intention of being seen just set.
Perhaps she could have her outlet after all.

There was something about the Marooner’s rock that Eztli found somewhat more peaceful than anywhere else he had been in Neverland. With the exception of one or two other places, then this was one of the peaceful places that existed to him. He found everything about the water to be calming, and if he hadn’t been so tired he might have slipped off his shoes, rolled up his pants and let the cool water wash over his feet for a few minutes. But, being close enough to smell the ocean and hear the waves crashing into nearby rocks from time to time was enough for him now, and taking another suck at the blood from his finger, Eztli dropped his head back and stared up at the sky for a minute before closing his eyes and letting out a long dreary sigh.
But there was another reason that Eztli didn’t choose to go into the ocean. Mermaids. Aquatic creatures that roamed the seas, hunted by pirates and could occasionally be found on land with two legs. How he hated them. Eztli found them to be a pathetic excuse of a creature. Such kind-hearted creatures that would spend day and night braiding each others hair and gossiping about the doings of the inhabitants of Neverland. And them endless hours of childish games and laughter, much like the lost children they had so much interest in. It made him sick. The only interesting quality about them was them drowning unsuspecting people forgetting the dangers of the ocean. Eztli would not deny he had daydreamed the fear and pain in their eyes as the went further and further down the ocean, their unsuccessfully attempt at trying to break free until their movement became slower and slower and then death.
Eztli let out a small chuckle at the thought of a drowning person as he sat up on the flat rock. His eyes opened up to gaze at the rising sun. Soon the sun would be fully risen which would mean one of the many things he hated in life would likely come and sun bathe on the Marooner’s rock. Perhaps he should leave now before anyone was to arrive.

With dawn breaking, it would not have surprised Delta if the boat had been docked within the lagoon throughout the night, its occupant also. Such a thought did not settle well with her. The lagoon belonged to the mermaids - it was hers. No land-walker had any right to rest there, and that was a lesson that Delta was going to enjoy teaching to this arrogant human.
The edge of her tail caressing the rough surface of the rock, Delta's head emerged from the water, followed by her swan-like throat and narrow shoulders, the rest of her staying beneath the lagoon's calm surface, including her tail. Remaining motionless with ease, Delta regarded the stranger that occupied the boat, as much as she could for only his head and face were visible from her position.
Physically, he was quite intimidating with those scars and unfeeling eyes. A dangerous edge surrounded him, causing Delta's highly active imagination to picture a shark. All sharp teeth and hunger. But Delta did not fear sharks, and she would not fear this stranger either.
Having made little to no sound until now, the mermaid's feminine voice was loud as it shattered the relative silence. "How strange, humans don't often come to our waters until much later in the day." Her tone was deceptively friendly as she silently added, much later. A mermaid's greatest tools were her charms and tricks, and Delta was experienced at using both.
